Kate Lochridge earned a formal education in Studio Art and Marine Biology from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Her multidisciplinary education influences the subject matter of her work. She combines research, illustration, and fine art to recontextualize scientific phenomena. By translating scientific findings into the visual language of painting and sculpture, Ms Lochridge facilitates the development of emotional connections between viewers and the subject matter. Some of her favorite topics to tackle include climate change, water resource availability, and the anthropocene extinction. Some works of significance include The HABs and the HAB Not's, Between Land and Water: Visualizing Sea Level Change in South Central Alaska, and the downtown Bowling Green "artlet". When people step away from her art, she hopes that they go with the tools they need to drive social and environmental change in their own communities.
